Each slab is unique with natural variations in colour, veining and characteristics
Because of this uniqueness, the colour of your top may vary from the sample, and it is not always possible for it to be matched across a seam or corner area when installed
Granite has the ability to reflect light differently and hence the same slab may appear different when viewed in different types of lighting or angles.
Overhangs that are 6” and greater require brackets (not supplied by Uniform Custom Countertops) for support
Granite weighs 18 – 25 lb/sq. ft. This means that pieces may weigh 200 – 500 lbs or more.
Granite is a porous material. Therefore, some liquids such as oils and red wines if left for a period of time may leave a ring or stain. It is best to wipe up any spills as soon as possible.
General Cleaning
Granite surfaces should be wiped with dishsoap and water, and rinsed with clean water.
Spot Removal
Adhered materials such as gum, nail polish and paint may be scraped with a sharp edge such as a razor blade. Difficult spots may require a special granite stain removing product.
Sealant
It is recommended that a quality granite sealer and conditioner be applied to the surface annually.
Preventing Knife Scratches
To help maintain the beauty of your countertop, do not cut directly on it - use a cutting board.
Preventing Heat Damage
Hot pans as well as some heat generating appliances such as fry pans or crock-pots may damage the surface. To prevent this, use a hot pad or trivet with rubber feet to protect your countertop.
